Dancing and Dessert Revel

After the feast, the festivities continue! Desserts are welcome.

Location

The feast will be held at McKinley Foundation. The location is marked on the map here.

Ball and Dessert Revel

If you have been before, you know how good a time it is.  If you haven’t it is about time you come have a look.

This year, the Ball / Dessert Revel will take place at the McKinley Foundation after the feast. (This is the same location as the feast.)

There will be live music, much dancing, and of course, you’ll get your desserts! Come one, come all, and enjoy an evening in the warmth of good company.

The Dessert Revel this year will be potluck sweet goods. If you would like to bring a dessert to share, please feel free to do so!

If you like, you can also contact Lynette  so we can know to anticipate your contribution. :-)

Any interested musicians are also invited to bring their instrument(s) and join the band!

Nearby Restaurants

The Union is a beautiful neo-French deco building with plenty of space for everything while easy to navigate and find your way. The building is fully wheelchair-accessible, has lots of hotel rooms available on-site, and is in the heart of campus, so plenty of restaurants to try. It is a dry site.  As per Illinois law, this public building is smoke-free, and we ask that all participants step no less than 50 feet from any door if they decide to brave the cold for a smoke.

Please note that the site requests that all outside food be eaten in the basement food court.

Please note: The 2nd Floor Women’s room is closed due to construction. There are Women’s rooms on the 1st and 3rd floor on the West side of the building and another on the 1st floor east in the Vending room (across from the Colonial room, under the 2nd Floor Ballroom).

Please feel free to contact the Event Steward with any questions you may have.

Parking

Parking options are available all over campus, though we’ve tried to find the closest and best spaces for you. This Google map shows the area around the event sites, with the Illini Union, McKinley Presbyterian, and nearby parking lots labeled for you.

When searching for your own spaces, it is imperative that you read the large blue signs at all University parking lots. Some parking lots are metered 24/7, and some are not available to the public at all (like the Illini Union Hotel lot). Our map (linked above) identifies which parking lots are best for your purposes.

We will have bagged spaces at the front of the Union for loading and unloading only, and five designated handicapped spaces. Please unload your belongings quickly, then move your vehicle so that others may do the same. Parking is strictly prohibited in the Fire Lane, and vehicles will be ticketed and towed if left there. If you expect to need one of the handicapped spaces, please let us know when you arrive onsite.
