Sunday Activities for Non-Combatants

On Sunday there is more to do than just combat activities!

Glass lampworking workshops:

Lord Brynniulfr Herleifsson and Lady Rois alann inghean Ui Fhlaighbheartagh are working with Lady Lynette to offer additional glass lampworking workshops in the local Makerspace on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Please pre-register for your preferred times and workshops at VolunteerSpot.
(You can also show up without pre-registering, but since spaces are limited, you may be placed on a waiting list. Pre-registering is the best way to reserve yourself a slot!)

Offerings include:

Open torch time for experienced lampworkers, 10 – 12: 
$5 per half hour, available from 10 am to noon in the basement Makerspace. Time slots include 10, 10:30, 11, and 11:30.

Beginning lampworking workshop, 1 – 3:$15 for a 2 hour workshop upstairs in the IMC main room.

Intermediate/advanced lampworking workshop, 3-5:
$15 for a 2 hour workshop upstairs in the IMC main room.

Optional glass ornament blowing for an additional fee:
If you’d like a break from lampworking, Lord Brynn can teach you to make blown glass ornaments for an additional fee that will cover the glass bulbs he supplies.

A Spurlock exhibit of special interest to fiber artisans:
Be Inspired: A Demonstration Day by the C-U Spinners and Weavers Guild
Sunday, January 26, 2014, 1 – 3 pm
For the exhibit Inspired by…, members of the C-U Spinners and Weavers Guild created original artworks inspired by Museum artifacts. During this event, Guild members will speak with visitors about their works and demonstrate the techniques they used to create them.

Krannert Art Museum
Admission free or $3 suggested donation
500 E. Peabody Dr., Champaign

Not to be confused with the performing arts center, this is the art museum on campus. Its collections include many pieces from Medieval Europe, Asia, and the Near East. Medieval objects include stained glass, paintings, ceramics, stonework, and more.
Sunday hours are 2:00 – 5:00.

This museum is located close to the Krannert Performing Arts Building.  If features artifacts from all over the world, including many pieces from Medieval Europe, Asia, and the Near East. Medieval objects include armor, illumination, and...you’ll just have to look around and see!
