10:00am: Authorizations begin
11:00am: Novice Tournament
Noon-1:00: Tournament of Chivalry (TOC) Round 1

Sword and Shield authorizations will be run first. Additional authorizations will run simultaneous to the Novice Tourney.

Marshals will be needed to help, but all marshals will be able to fight in the tournament. All tournaments will be "Atlantian Speed Tournaments", requiring no bookkeeping during the tournament.

Novice Tournament

The novice tournament is open to anyone who has never won a tournament nor received a combat award. Please note that novice does not mean new and anyone meeting this criteria is encouraged to enter.

Her Royal Majesty Spear Tournament

Must fight with, gasp, a spear.

Invitational Tournament

This will be the now traditional pool tournament fought on six lists, but not limited to six pools. Pools will be between 8-12 fighters per pool. Double kills count as a loss for each fighter. The top fighters from each pool advancing to four new pools of 8. Time allowing, this will then produce two pools from which two finalists will emerge to face each other in a best two of three bout with different weapons from from the following choices - Sword and Shield, Two Weapon, Pole Arm, Spear, Mass Weapon and Shield. First choice will go to the fighter with lesser precedence, then the other. If a third round is needed, ti will be royal choice but not a repeat. If time runs short then the top two for the second four pools will hold a single elimination tourney to select the final two.

Please direct any questions about armored combat to Sir Ixtilixochitl.

Do we have someone who can be our Combat liason for the shire? Who are the people in the kingdom our liason would need to talk to?

I asked Ix at Crystal Ball about tourney prizes that a fighter would appreciate and he said scrolls. Other events have been doing this, and he's right that people would enjoy receiving a scroll. What's more, it's not going to break our budget! Can we get a volunteer to start working on some tourney prize scroll blanks? Judging by the number of tournaments we currently have we would need 5, or 6 if we have a youth tourney (still unknown).

I shortened the times for the lists in the Ballroom because we need everyone out of the room by 4PM -- so the Illini staff can change it for Court. If we say the lists close at 3 or 3:30, hopefully it will be easier to get everyone out of there by 4...

Per the conversation with Sofya and Alice at the January Business Meeting, the rapier lists must close by 3:00 to allow for getting everyone - and just as importantly, every THING - out of the ballrom by 3:30. As it is, an hour and a half is a very short timeframe for doing the turnaround, so it's imperative that everyone is out of the room by 3:30.

(Comment-pinging this page - here's where I need someone to put the 2014 combat and tournament of chivalry info so that I can copy it over to the website.)

(Copy-pasting the text from the 2013 edition on the website, since it's different than what's here, but WordPress doesn't keep a version history, so overwriting that will remove the notes about how it was run.)
